Confirmed from Freedom Field's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Public park with facilities for sports such as soccer and baseball, plus a restroom.
What runners say about Freedom Field
“Well kept field and walking track with several trees for shade, benches, and a small outdoor gym area.”
“There is parking on all four sides of the field, and adequate shade around the periphery for folding chairs and coolers.”
Centrally located in a beautiful old neighborhood, it’s a great place to park your vehicle & walk or run in downtown or East Beach. I’ve made good use of the outdoor ‘gym’ in the corner.
The updated walking track is bouncy and easy on the knees. Great soccer field
A great place to play: Freedom field is a community sports field in Old Ocean Springs, about 2 blocks East of the library. It is lighted some nights for YMCA seasonal sports, the Coast United soccer club, and ultimate frisbee. There is a walking track that gets muddy after rain, and a bathroom house for boys/girls.
I love this place. There's a walking path around the field. It's a large open field. I bring my dog here to play fetch. It's also where a lot of people play baseball, football and soccer.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
