Confirmed from Fremont Peak State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic, mountainous park with craggy peaks & views of Monterey Bay, hiking, camping & picnicking.
What runners say about Fremont Peak State Park
“The restroom was an easy walk from the campsite, had vault toilets (overall clean, with toilet paper and no foul smell).”
“Beautiful location with incredible views, decent trails, and fabulous sunsets.”
“It's relatively quiet, depending on your neighbors, and quite relaxing.”
This campsite is a hidden gem and underrated. The weather at this location can vary greatly depending on when you visit, with fog and wind. However, if you come here when the weather is right, you will have the best campsite view ever, allowing you to watch the sunset above the clouds.
Was really beautiful. Me my bf and only two other people were at the park that day and got to sit on top by our selves for a while. Saw a rattle snake and many lizards was a nice shirt hike up Fremont Peak trail.
Spectacular views and easy hiking. Campgrounds perched perfectly for a nice day of nature and peace. Peak is super fun to walk and climb up to and there are a few small caves as well to explore.
Its amazing this time of year. The bright warm sun with the crisp cool winter air are a perfect combination for the hike up to the top. There is a paved road that takes you all the way up to the service stations, and you can hike the rest of the way to the peak.

- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
