Confirmed from Galen McBee Airport Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Memorial park with trails through the woods, picnic tables, and a large mushroom-shaped structure.
What runners say about Galen McBee Airport Park
“Pleasantly surprised with a beautiful walk through this lush and wooded park.”
Neat park. Nice to walk around and explore. I just wanted to visit the Mushroom house so I stopped as I passed through town. Short walk inside the park to see it. Very cute. Some graffiti inside it but luckily the outside isn't vandalized. Makes for a nice photo opp.
Super cute park! The longest loop is a mile and fairly easy. Very pretty area. It’s right next to an airport, so you’ll constantly hear planes and helicopters. Lots of cute little structures and the famous mushroom structure near the beginning. It was very muddy on the trails, so wear the right kind of shoes.
What a delightful forested short hike! Trails are very muddy after recent rain; appropriate footwear recommended. Signs indicate it is currently a one-way loop, and social distancing and mask requirements appeared to be well-respected. Great vantage points for plane spotting.
We are lucky to have many great parks in the area, but Galen McBee is one of my very favorites. It is unique as far as parks go, in fact I would call it more of a nature walk or short hike. There is a fair amount of parking, not lots, but I have never seen it very busy.
Trail conditions & character
“I love that I can take my little doggo, they have poo bags available if you forgot yours at home and there's garbage cans at the parking lot.”
“It is a popular spot for dogs too, but honestly, the trails are long enough that we rarely encounter many other visitors.”
“Trails are very muddy after recent rain; appropriate footwear recommended.”
“Signs indicate it is currently a one-way loop, and social distancing and mask requirements appeared to be well-respected.”
“It is simply a lovely wooded ramble, verdant with ferns and trees, thimbleberries, trillium, a trickling creek complet with bridge, mushrooms growing all over….”
“There are also other neat sculptures (no longer running water fountains but still pretty!”
