Confirmed from Garfield Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Garfield Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (261 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Love this place! It's a cute little park that connects Garfield Elementary to Eastern Avenue Park. I run with my dog through here and sometimes we'll stop and watch the kids play baseball. I think my dog wants to be a part of the team 😂 Anyway, great park.

★★★★★ — Melinda , Aug 2024

My experience at Garfield Park started 52 yrs ago. It is still a great place for kids to play ball as it was 52 yrs ago as I watched my oldest brother play pony league. So nice it is on the bike trail so kids or adults can enjoy and get exercise.

★★★★★ — Pam , Aug 2018

While an older park, it does have good appeal. A couple of shelter, restrooms, plenty of parking, several ball fields, tennis, sand volleyball, a playground and access to the bike path. Winner, winner!

★★★★☆ — Amanda , Jan 2019

They put in a new bench and a couple more places to sit. Great place to stop and take a break from the bike trail.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
