Confirmed from Genesee Gateway Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Genesee Gateway Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (279 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“Interesting views and well maintained sidewalks.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“One of the most beautiful walks you can take in Rochester's inner city.”

My favorite place to walk. There is construction going on(4/21), on one side to change the view side walk area. I'm looking forward to that being done. There is something calming and naturey right in the middle of the city. I love it anytime of year.

Beautiful walk and view of the city. More people should be out here. Get off your couch and get outside Rochester! :)

★★★★★ — John , Mar 2020

Lovely place to walk the dog as there are plastic bags and garbage cans strategically dotted around, just in case Fido goes through the bags you brought from home. There's almost always a breeze here, making it the place to be in the summer heat. But rug for the arctic if it's winter.

★★★★★ — Kylie , Jul 2019

It's a good place to go if you want to get away from the city for a few moments. The bike trails are wonderful, and well kept. It's good to watch nature in the river, waterfalls, are good place to just sit and watch Life.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

“If you're looking for parking on Thursdays- enter through the Spectrum parking lot, and drive into the stretch of the beaten-down grass and park next to the other cars.”
