George LeStrange Preserve is a great place to visit! The trail is equipped with a canoe launch, picnic areas, shaded benches along the loop, and a second trail that branches off and runs along 10-Mile Creek. You can expect to see gopher tortoises, squirrels, snakes, birds, and if you’re lucky, a manatee at the creek.
Really enjoyed the visit here with the family. We rode bikes and walked. The path goes around the lake and is wide throughout and shady in parts. There are sitting look out spots along the way. It’s peaceful and pretty. Looks like you can fish and kayak there as well.
Best nature trail we have been to in the area so far! We saw an owl and lots of turtles. We also saw many blue jays and red cardinals. There was lots of shade with the tall trees and just loved hearing the water running and trees rustling with the wind.
A great place for a hike. Lots of sun coverage and space to sit and enjoy the views. It’s free to visit and park. I saw many tortoise and their nests, lizards and birds. I also saw a snake, not so much a fan of that aspect. I loved the hiking trail off the main trail, very jungle like and beautiful.
