Confirmed from Gilbert Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Gilbert Trail
Easy trail, about a mile. We saw a few deer. Suitable for young children with mostly flat terrain.
Great trail! Never really crowded. I just don't like that I have to now pay $5 to park there.
Good trails through the open fields and very clean, but VERY limited parking.
Really nice trail through the woods towards the museum at Kennesaw Mountain. A section through fields, some in light woods and some in dense woods with streams. Not a level path all the way with plenty of lumps and bumps in parts. There is a really nice part with a replica Union cannon battery.
Trail conditions & character

“Well maintained trail about 50-50% gentle hill vs flat with tree roots and rocks and packed dirt.”

- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
