Confirmed from Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Preserved site of an 1864 Civil War battle, with a visitor's center featuring a film & artifacts.
What runners say about Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
“One thing I appreciate is how clean the bathrooms are, which is a huge plus after spending time on the trails.”
“Beautiful afternoon walk with my family and our pets ❤️ The view from the top is stunning where we can see the downtown of Atlanta.”
“the running trails are immaculate, well maintained, undulating (rolling hills) and well marked on Google maps.”
Absolutely loved the Kennesaw Mountain trek! The trail offers a perfect mix of scenic beauty, easy challenge, and historical significance. The views from the top are stunning—especially at sunrise or sunset. It’s well-maintained, safe, and great for both solo hikers and families.
Well-maintained trail! AllTrails rates it as moderate, but I’d say it’s somewhere between easy and moderate. A few sections are slightly challenging, but they’re very short. Most of the trail is flat.
It was a fun trail and hike. I went early, so parking was not a problem. On the way back to the car, I saw NPS employees checking cars for passes. I added Pigeon Hill to my hike, which has many deer nearby. There are lots of steep/strenuous areas, so bring plenty of water!
Phenomenal place! Definitely my new favorite place to jog around Marietta. Gorgeous scenery... the running trails are immaculate, well maintained, undulating (rolling hills) and well marked on Google maps...

“Haven't been in a while so the hike up can be a little tough if you're not use to it as isn't a flat paved trail.”
“You're walking up a monadnock- or isolated hill/mountain so there are rocky areas along the pathway up.”

Plan your run at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
