Confirmed from Glen Helen Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Quiet reserve with walks amid 400-year-old trees, waterfalls & wildflowers, plus a raptor center.
What runners say about Glen Helen Nature Preserve
“The trails are well-maintained and offer a peaceful escape into nature.”
“Although we didn’t make it to every trail, the ones we explored featured four to five beautiful waterfalls.”
“Nice area, my only comment would be download the trail map, because the trails are not clearly marked.”
“Peaceful streams and scenic overlooks make every step feel refreshing and serene.”
Beautiful park. Great place for hiking and enjoying nature. Easy trails that are family and pet friendly. Met several friendly dogs and their families. Stood just a few feet away from 2 young deer as they enjoyed some fresh leaves 🍃 then wondered down a short distance to a wooden bridge that led us to a pretty little…
This spot is amazing spot to go for a hike. They have over twenty five trails and multiple mini waterfalls. There are lots of massive rocks and I mean like ten foot and up rocks. The trails are like 6.5 out of 10 difficulty. I’d wear hiking boots but no need for a helmet.
Visited Glen Helen Nature Preserve recently, and it was an amazing experience! The trails are well-maintained and offer a peaceful escape into nature. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, waterfalls, and unique rock formations.
I'm so grateful to live close to this nature preserve. The volunteers are constantly updating the park and keeping it clean. The views are immaculate, and it has been a favorite for me since my childhood. There's a large network of trails, a lot more than you'd think, which makes coming there regularly.
Trail conditions & character
“There's plenty of trails to keep you busy for 1 to 2 hours, including a nice river, small waterfalls a few springs that flow out of the rock, and a fantastic beaver dam.”
“Parking was easy to find, and the entry fee is minimal but goes toward conservation efforts, which is great.”
“Peaceful streams and scenic overlooks make every step feel refreshing and serene.”
“Trails aren’t the best marked so make sure you have some sort of navigation tool if you’re not just going in the loop.”
“There's a nice parking lot, with friendly staff, and nice headquarters with restrooms.”
