Confirmed from Great Council State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park with picnic tables and a public restroom, plus kid-friendly hikes and exhibits.
What runners say about Great Council State Park
“Beautiful new state park with a great visitor center and a nice short walking trail.”
“The museum features detailed dioramas, historical artifacts, and interactive displays, making it an engaging experience for all ages.”
This is a fantastic idea for a state park. It’s primarily a museum about Native American history in Ohio. They have a short video in a small theater, a number of exhibits, and lots of information. There’s also two short trails behind the building.
Beautiful new state park with a great visitor center and a nice short walking trail. Lots of picnic tables and giant stones to sit on and all the information you need to educate yourself about native Americans in Ohio. It exceeded my expectations.
A wonderful FREE historical State Park in progress! Both parking lots are a mess. There are 4 entry/exit points in the gravel lot. People park where there are not spots, blocking an entry/exit. It's an accident waiting to happen. There is a very small lot that is paved and only has a few handicap spaces.
A brand new Ohio State Park. The visitor center is on the site of the former Tecumseh Motel. The State did a great job on this facility. The site is the former Old Town or Chillicothe, the principal village of the Shawnee.

- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
