Confirmed from Glenn Thompson Reserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly nature reserve offering a host of hiking paths and riverside spaces for fishing and swimming.
What runners say about Glenn Thompson Reserve
“Another path originating closer to the parking lot leads through beautiful lowland forest, great for people and dog walking.”
A wonderful place to go for a long walk. Due to it being so close to i-35, it's typically not that crowded. Once you get into the woods though, the sounds of traffic fade out pretty quickly. There is a nice trail that follows the river. It's well maintained without appearing gentrified.
The only downside to this nature preserve is the lack of a park sign to indicate that it is the Glen Thompson Nature Reserve. Given that, this was an absolutely gorgeous trail to hike on, and a gorgeous reserve to hike in. Everywhere you looked, while I was there, was a blanket of gold.
Close proximity to an intersection means that folks from many directions can easily get to this park and river access. A small paved parking lot leads down a short path to the Little Miami River just north of 35 at Trebein Rd. There's a caution sign warning inexperienced kayakers of river conditions downstream.
Very pretty place with a trail along the river that runs all of the way to Creekside trail. A great place to swim or fish.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
