Confirmed from Gould Canyon Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Gould Canyon Trail
“Trail is dog friendly, but your dog should be horse friendly, too, as you often see horses on the southern section, near the stables at Hahamonga Park.”
This is one of the best hikes In the area because there is always running water in the creek for the dogs to frolic in. It’s a long hike but it’s flat on the canyon bed. At the end is a dam that is fun as well. I can’t recommend this enough.
Great trail, especially nice now that the trails north of Altadena appear to be off limits for the rest of 2025. Starts out at the bottom of Foothill Blvd and winds its way through some residences before hitting the canyon.
Great trail , be prepared, the going down is the easy part but it’s the going back up will hurt you a bit lol. There is two ways to go , we decided to take the Paul Little since it was our first time there . It was great but beware , take good shoes , rocks everywhere, no solid floor at all . Took us about 2 hrs .
Nice little multi use trail that goes slightly uphill from near Hahamonga Park. Part of it goes through a residential area, another funner part runs next to a creek where your dog can splash around.
Trail conditions & character
“Interesting hike because it’s a mix of seeing some residential areas but also green, lush and almost all dirt and finally ending up as a mountain hike with great views.”
