We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Gowe Memorial Park yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Gowe Memorial Park
“It was my 1st time there and its a nice quiet park with beautiful little nooks to 🐟”
“On DPR trail, great spot to park and run.”
LONGEST TRAIL! It’s one of the longest trail in the neighborhood. The loop is about 10 miles which includes bridges and natural paths. Get ready to experience wilderness in case you start off early. We saw squirrels, bunnies and geese. There are several kayak paths and certain portions were very scenic.
Great park that provides access to both the des plaines river trail and des plaines river water trail. Plenty of parking, great kayak and canoe launch, port a potties. Great spot to put in on either a boat or bike for a great day of exploring all that the des plaines river trails have to offer!
It's a park, but to me, and underutilized trail head and kayak launch. Almost always nearly empty parking lot, and one of the few sections of the Des Plaines River Trail that isn't over crowded.
This is a good trail that's connected to the north of the Des Plains River Trail. Some parts are a little muddy from the rain/snow.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
