Confirmed from Greater Sucker Creek's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Greater Sucker Creek

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (79 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“Very beautiful, and there are different paths to choose from depending if you like paved paths or trails in the woods.”

🐕 dog-walking favorite 3 mentions

“A great place to come with kids and it's also dog friendly.”

You can tell a lot of heart, sweat, planning and effort went into this smaller nature preserve. It is in very good shape. The creek throught the park is the highlight for sure. There is a well paved accessible trail throughout as well as separate hiking trails through the woods.

I had read there was a thomas dambo troll here near the amphitheater but didn't find it. There was some ribbon marking a potential troll site? Beautiful walk along a paved trail with a few woodland spur trails. I'm pretty sure I saw a Scarlet Tanager in the woods. Free.

★★★★☆ — Trypp , May 2024

This is a very special place to have so close, both recreationally and ecologically. I can't imagine a much better place to take children or the elderly alike to get out and learn with all there is to read about and experience.

★★★★★ — Midwest , Oct 2021

Great place to go for a relaxing walk with our puppies. The paved trails make it easy for everyone to enjoy the area. Many benches along the way to sit and take in the beauty of nature.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
