We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Green Rock Trail (South Trailhead) yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Green Rock Trail (South Trailhead)
“The trail has a few fallen branches and was a little narrower in one or two areas, but overall it’s an incredible, scenic path.”
Beautiful trail, love running out here. There’s a hiking trail and a separate equestrian trail. The Green Rock Trail itself is nearly 15 miles, but there several more miles of interconnected trails. Mostly single track dirt and rock with a few narrow stream crossings and a lot of hills.
Trail runners dream come true! Beautiful rolling hills with great parking at the trailhead. Ran all the way to overlook trail and back and can’t wait to explore more. The trail is very shady and can be run/hiked in the middle of summer! Love it.
Nice trail up to greensfelder and beyond. Wildflowers starting to bloom near beginning of trail. Good trail for elevation change.
Green Rock Trail is easily one of the highlights of Rockwoods Reservation. We were aiming for a 5-mile hike, so we tracked 2.5 miles in and headed back. It definitely gets the heart rate up! The trail has a few fallen branches and was a little narrower in one or two areas, but overall it’s an incredible, scenic path.
