Confirmed from Rockwoods Range's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Rockwoods Range
“Total length is 14 miles, with the trail becoming more scenic with more and more rock covered in moss, hence the name green rock trail.”
Hands down, one of the best hiking trails I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. It's a straight trail, meaning it doesn't loop you back so you have to literally turn around on path and go back( which I have no problem with).
Gorgeous area with a road to drive through plus trails for hiking. My favorite part was the creek. There is a parking area right off the road with a short trail to a beautiful area of the creek to explore.
Super peaceful creek walk. If it has rained recently there's a large refreshing rock to relax on and jump off into the swimming hole for kids. Family and Kid Friendly. Please pick up after yourself so we can keep this quiet little hole fun.😃
9:25am, Sept 24, no other hikers around. Green trail was Rocky for intermediate to expert hikers. Enjoyed it! Tree foilage was too full to see the view from the round house memorial, but weather was good. A wood thrush was following us:)

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
