Confirmed from GUTS (Gardendale Urban Trail System)'s own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about GUTS (Gardendale Urban Trail System)
“They're pet friendly for leashed animals, and well-maintained.”
The GUTS trails are an excellent addition to Gardendale. I use them multiple times a week and have loved watching them change through the seasons. There are four different trails, and they can be used by people of all ages and fitness levels for walking, running, and biking.
It is close. It is challenging enough to burn some calories even at a slow pace. ** DON'T FOLLOW GOOGLE MAPS** Just go to the disc golf parking lot and come in there, or the gavel parking lot just pasted the soccer field on Jew Hollow. The is a bump that will destroy lowpro tires and rims. The trail is nice.
Best onewheel trails around as far as I am concerned. The city did a great job with this project.
Such a fun spot. Small enough to let kids kinda run free-ish but still feels like such a big adventure. Peaceful walk. If your looking for a trail running spot I’d say this trail is more for bikes. It’s pretty choppy and steep small up and downs… it would be a decent run but not ideal in my option.
Trail conditions & character
“Great beginner trails if you're getting into Mountain biking, also a nice little dog park ,playground, splash pad and disc golf”
“Some paths are smooth and some are rocky, all provide the best sights and smells of nature.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
