Confirmed from Hackers Falls' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Hackers Falls

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (270 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“Water is clean and minnows are swimming inside.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“The falls are beautiful, and the forest is a mix of conifers and deciduous trees.”

Nice trail, well-maintained. I’d suggest taking a picture of the trail map in the parking lot or screen-shotting it online before starting this hike, so you don’t lose your location- there are a few ways to get to the falls, so it’s just good to know where you’re at and where you can go to get where you’d like.

I used to love this spot for hiking and swimming during the summer. I recently went on a Sunday and took the yellow path to avoid the crowds at the waterfall and the stress if watching people cliff jump. Raymondskill Falls connects to Hacker's and we took the Cliff Trail for the amazing view at the top.

This was a great hike. I would say moderate because you do have to work some to get to the falls. You start out with elevation in for the first half mile or so but if you do an out and back the vast majority of the return is downhill. Theres a cliff trail that you can loop with to extend the hike a bit.

Beautiful waterfall! I went after a rainy day, and it was full of water! People can get in and cool down after or before their hike. When you get there, please park on Cliff Park Trail, then take a small hike to the waterfall. When you put it in the GPS, Hackers Falls takes you to the middle of the road.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
