Confirmed from Hackettstown Riverfront Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Hackettstown Riverfront Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (145 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 6 mentions

“Many well kept benches and also along the way many exercise equipment to use with instructions.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Well this park is absolutely beautiful for the whole family.”

Found this gem by chance and I sincerely felt in a nostalgic abyss. It has an open field path between a baseball and soccer field with small fields and a playground on the outskirts. Second, there is a trail that leads to the other end of athletic fields.

I come here to be left alone. I used to come here long ago as a child to be left alone, when there was nothing but woods and it was a great place to camp out. Usually not busy here now. No one bothers you. People mind their business. I sometimes bring my pup, just clean up afterward.

Great family park! We love it for Pokemon Go, but so many options for physical activity. Workout stations, paved and nature trails, basketball court, baseball and soccer fields, plus picnic area and playground for the kids.

★★★★★ — Stephanie , Jan 2020

Great park for most outdoor sports. Baseball fields, soccer nets, basketball courts, and a playground for the kids. There is a trail that seems to circle most of the park. There also appears to be a trail that goes into the woods.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
