Confirmed from Half Moon Lake Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Half Moon Lake Trailhead
“Thanks to the folks at the Ogeechee Canal for maintaining this quiet place for a short hike and meditation.”
A beautifully serene and truly wild trail. Tucked away and almost hidden, this trail was a pleasant surprise! As you drive up you might almost miss the small gravel road that leads to the trail. Down the gravel roadway you'll find a small parking area and an information shack.
4 star because it depends on what youre looking for. It’s not a running trail. Only 1km on way (about .5 mile) so a full mile if you run to one end and back. It’s pretty much a shot back and forth. It is somewhat under kept…but the signage indicates it was an Eagle Scout project from 1998. So.
This trail is a hidden gem! A bit off the beaten path as they say and easy to miss the entrance road to the parking area. The trail itself would be considered by most to be a short walk. The site is not too far out from downtown Savannah.
If you live nature and solitude. This is the place for you. Can walk for miles on the trail. Trail work is being done by volunteers in the area. So very helpful for the Historic Savannah Ogeecgee Barge Canal. Connie and her volunteers make it happen for you all to enjoy. Great Job . Happy Trails. 😎🌠
