Confirmed from Hallett Nature Sanctuary's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“The paths provide a great view of the adjacent pond and provide a great walkway through the area.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 7 mentions

“It’s hidden and quiet so you feel like you are out in the woods and not in the middle of one of the world’s busiest cities.”

One of my favorite Central Park spots. It’s hidden and quiet so you feel like you are out in the woods and not in the middle of one of the world’s busiest cities. Also, it’s one of the best locations in the park to view wildlife, and especially birds.

★★★★★ — New , May 2019

I can’t believe that this place is in NYC, I felt that I was in the middle of nowhere but if you walk a few minutes you find yourself in the chaos of Manhattan Marvelous place, there were a countless birds and squirrels and this beautiful raccoon It’s nice to take a minute and appreciate this place Must go ❤️‍🩹

★★★★☆ — Sofía , May 2025

A hidden cove within Central Park, of many small winding forested trails. Also secluded nooks, some of which, have artistically carved benches and railings. And the the pond, actually have large golden/yellowish fish. Yes, most likely, released goldfish and koi.

★★★★★ — Dean , Dec 2020

This is a great area within Central Park. We loved the cute benches and railings made of repurposed branches. The pathway was comfortable and soft under foot, made with compressed wood chips. The views and lookout points all offer different beautiful views and perspectives.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
