Confirmed from Hanover Trolley Trail Hanover Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Hanover Trolley Trail Hanover Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (45 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“(Bathrooms at park at Moul Ave lot were locked) Not a scenic running trail but if your looking for an easy run or walk, this fits the bill.”

🐕 dog-walking favorite 3 mentions

“I have also taken dogs for a walk on it, it is dog-friendly.”

Excellent little trail, usually not crowded and the surface is good both for walking and biking. Would be great if the Rail Trail Authority extended it further to link up with Spring Grove and the main York Rail Trail!

This is a nice walking/running trail, maybe a mile and a half long. There isn't much scenery, so if that's important to you, maybe don't pick this place to walk or run. There are some inappropriate graffiti spots unfortunately, so make sure to hide young eyes from it.

★★★★☆ — Olivia , Feb 2023

Pretty good travel place to go and excersise and have fun. Granted the beginning of the trail is right behind the backyards of some newly developed houses which is kinda interesting. And some one wrote on the powerline pole.

★★★★☆ — Frank , Jan 2022

Relatively flat 5k out and back from Moul Ave trailhead to gate at Gitts Run Rd (end of trail section). Mostly packed gravel. Not very busy on a Wed afternoon. No port-a-pots or bathrooms available.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
