We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Harrington Way Point yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Area for hiking, rafting, biking, fishing, and picnicking, with access to the American River.
What runners say about Harrington Way Point
Easy accessing American River, bicycle and walking trails. Can get very busy during river rafting season. Easy portage for carrying water toys. No trailer boat access.
This is a nice area to have a good view of the river. It also connects to the walking/biking trail that will take you through William B. Ponds and to the footbridge if you walk for a mile. Very rocky area at the river so please make sure you have good shoes.
A popular place to fish for Shad during the Spring run, as is Gristmill across the river, due to a choke point that concentrates them. You'll know the time when the parking lot is full, and many fisherman in a line with waders.
Nice river access to the American River. May get busy in summer since this is where most tubers/boaters/rafter end their trip. $5 pay in and prices may increase on holidays. A set of bathrooms, this area does not have any BBQ pit or picnic benches. Okay I take that back, there is 1 bench but its right by the bathroom..
