Confirmed from Harry S. Truman Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Playground, picnic tables, trails and a lake dot this relaxed park with dense woods and a gazebo.

What runners say about Harry S. Truman Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (303 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“This is a beautiful place to go in any type of weather if you need a minute out.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Still, a quiet, well maintained park, with a shelter house, playground, restrooms, and a shelter/bandstand on the far side of the pond.”

This is a pleasant park. On this visit, we especially enjoyed the Truman Park Lake and the Missouri Greenway Truman - St. Stanislaus Connector trail. The trail through the park has frequent Benches for rest stops. The playground was popular today.

We walked the paved trail and the none paved trail and it was fun. Saw some interesting creatures crawling around. The sound of the wind with the leaves was amazing. This was a great adventure can't wait to come back in a different season.

I see so many interesting birds here. Nice variety of habitats. The trail is paved straight back into the woods, and then it makes a T with a singletrack dirt trail that runs parallel to the bluffs and then down stairs to St Stanislaus Conservation Area. Good for easy hiking or running.

My dog and I stayed around pond area, but plenty of walking trails and places to sit and observe. Really great park that’s hidden. Will explore more trails on next visit.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🛣️ Paved surface 8 mentions

“Keep going and you'll wander down a well groomed, paved hiking trail that goes deep into the woods and crosses over a creek.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
