Confirmed from Hartley Nature Center TH, Superior Hiking Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Plenty of hiking options on this trail for all types of hiking skills. The main trail has gravel and the more technical trails are bare ground with roots and rocks all throughout it. There's a nice pond at this site as well.

Big beautiful hiking trail and nature area right inside the city limits. Very interesting history and a variety of well marked trails for people of all abilities.

★★★★★ — Don , Oct 2022

Fun, well kept trails with maps, a lake, and a high point with great views called Rock Knob. Also miles of off road bicycle and cross country ski trails.

★★★★★ — Brad , Feb 2020

Hartley is an endless web of interconnected trails that I've been exploring since my earliest childhood and still haven't seen all of it. Gorgeous hills, ponds, creeks and rivers and it's ALL accessible. If you see something cool in Hartley, there's a trail that will lead you there. Most of all it feels *natural*..

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
