Confirmed from Hawn State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Serene outdoor area offering hiking & bird-watching amid rocky streams & stunning vistas.
What runners say about Hawn State Park
“The shower facilities were surprisingly clean, honestly, they were pretty clean for a campground.”
“Beautiful scenery, gorgeous trails through the woods and bluffs, and trails available for all difficulty.”
“Great overlooks, fun but challenging hills and cliffs, and then at the southern most point is a serene stream and cool area to relax.”
Fantastic hike with some rough spots. Beat for intermediate day hikers, with views and scenery well worth it. The route takes you along the creek and offers some amazing views that are well worth hiking to.
Went to Hawn state park October 14, 2023. Had a great time hiking the pickle creek trail, the trail was well marked. I got to see cool rock formations, giant boulders and small waterfalls and cascades. I see why a lot of people like this park. I’ll have to come back here to do the whispering pine trail.
I love this park. Beautiful scenery, gorgeous trails through the woods and bluffs, and trails available for all difficulty. With the creek that runs through it, this is probably one of my favorite places in all of Missouri!
Another wonderful Missouri state park. The campsites here are gorgeous, plenty of room, level, concrete pads with firing and picnic table. Table. The shower house is very clean, four individual showers, separate restrooms and laundry. There is one washer and one dryer, they each cost $1.
Trail conditions & character
“They should just close the white oak trail in my opinion, the views aren’t great and the trail isn’t maintained very well/ the path is very small for some reason.”
“Great overlooks, fun but challenging hills and cliffs, and then at the southern most point is a serene stream and cool area to relax.”

“as a note it was a more advanced difficulty trail for some people, the Pickle Springs trail is very rocky so wear good hinmking shoes with a solid grip.”
“The shower house is very clean, four individual showers, separate restrooms and laundry.”
“There is a children's playground at the campground and another one at the trailhead.”
“There was a toilet and the route was linear and not a loop”
