Confirmed from Hawthorn Hollow Nature Sanctuary & Arboretum's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

We LOVE it here. The trails are nice and always clean and quiet. Love the historical buildings. I'm sad the wigwam fell, I hope you can fix it.

Put this in your GPS now even if you can't go right away, if you love hiking and nature this is the place to be visiting! My visit was limited to a small portion of this nature sanctuary due to severe weather and other things.

A truly gorgeous and underrated place. I definitely recommend spraying yourself with bug spray and bringing a hat, cuz the wilderness can and will kick your butt. It's a good walk even for those who never hike, and it's wonderful to visit year round. Please donate, as this place is non-profit and relies on donations.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
