Confirmed from Hemlock Crossing's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 16 mentions

“Along the trails, there are quite a few scenic overlooks with a bench for soaking in the spectacular views slowly.”

🪧 well-marked 7 mentions

“We only hiked/walked a small portion of the trails but they were well maintained and easy to follow.”

Amazing place! This is a large park (county says 239 acres) with a lot of neat features. First, there are meandering trails all over that are nicely marked and maintained. Along the trails, there are quite a few scenic overlooks with a bench for soaking in the spectacular views slowly.

I’m laid off for three weeks and visiting from Indiana trying to explore as much of Michigan and Wisconsin as possible, I am road tripping with my little dog… The trails here were phenomenal, absolutely stunning. Lots of wildlife can be seen in the wetlands. I would’ve stayed longer if I could.

Great park with well marked trails. You'll never feel lost. The nature center had friendly staff and clean facilities. There were lots of craft and coloring activities for kids and I think they even do kayak tours if you want. They had a kids scavenger hunt around a loop trail that was fun too and stroller friendly.

Lots of great trails to walk and hike. Although I haven't done it yet, there is a spot to launch kayaks and the rivers looks to be a fun, relaxing adventure. So many things to see if you look around. Here are some photos from my last visit.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
