Confirmed from Henry Hudson Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Henry Hudson Trail
“The short distance we walked on the trail was peaceful and quiet, even on the busy Memorial Day weekend.”
Peaceful, easy, flat hike through rural and residential stretches of Monmouth County. I hiked the Henry Hudson from Aberdeen down to southern Marlboro. Few bikers and hikers use the trail, making for a quiet experience with nature. Use caution when crossing Texas Road, in particular.
Great trail for bikes! I completed it and I would say it's definitely a must to ride!
👍🌍🚵♀️🌻🌿🌾🚶♀️🤸🐝🐿🐇🦊☀️🌈 🙏 This trail is AWESOME...beautifully maintained, so long, the stretch through Big Brook Park is especially beautiful, as is the stretch by the Highlands.
The short distance we walked on the trail was peaceful and quiet, even on the busy Memorial Day weekend. The trail was so fragrant from the trees and plants that grow along parts of the trail. I'd love to take the whole 24-mile path one day on a bike. Just a nice, quiet, and relaxing walk

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
