Confirmed from Hermon Woodlands' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“The back pavilion is the better of the two just because it gets more shade throughout the day, and it's closer to the playground and trails.”

Beautiful and well maintained trails and park. Nice bathrooms and shelter house. Plenty of parking space. Kids loved the imagination trail and all it offered to play on/in. We enjoyed the storybook trail, book is frequently changed so visit often for a new story. All trails were very nice!

Such a beautiful metro park just west of Lima. Cool spot for kids to enjoy. They have a paved path along the children's area that they made animal prints in, which is cool. The shelter houses are impressive. Not sure what you have to do to reserve them.

All around a pleasant trail. I'm from Colorado, so in comparison, this trail is far from epic. But for Ohio, it's quite nice. It gives you the impression you are deep in a wooded wilderness! Decently busy on a Sunday afternoon.

Take my 2 dogs here at least twice a month. Love the trails and the different loops. Nice place to take photos also.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Hermon Woodlands

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
