Confirmed from Hidden Valley Natural Tunnel's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic destination featuring a trail through boulders and shade, and a natural tunnel.
What runners say about Hidden Valley Natural Tunnel
“I highly recommend you hike this trail and go visit the hidden valley natural tunnel to see how beautiful it really is in person it's one of those "you had to be there" things.”
“Clean bath stalls, shade and picnic area at this trailhead.”
“Beautiful, clean, and peaceful with a lot of great picture spots 👍 start from Mormon Trailhead and bring plenty of water.”
Nice place for breeze and shade on a summer day. Cool place for a break and pictures, sandy area, depending on season watch out for possible snakes, bring water, closest trailhead would be 24th street up Mormon trail... keep going straight to National then turn left at the National trail sign, keep.
The hike here was nice, I had the trail to myself, there were bikes going up and down but it was nice to hike solo. I really enjoyed being here by myself.it was so quiet and serene. This was my first time hiking to the tunnel it took me an hour and ten minutes to get to the fork...
First time on this trail, stats off a little rocky and steep, but gradually gets less rocky and more sandy. The whole loop took me about 2 hrs, i did stop and take several photographs along the way, you have to. The views from up there were amazing. The tunnel itself pretty cool that it naturally formed that way.
Difficulty: 4/10 (I think it’s pretty easy!) The loop took about 2 hours round trip. Saw lots of kids and hike on the trail. Very scenic walk/hike and very different than other parts of South Mountain.
