Confirmed from Ridgeline Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area featuring a trail with elevation gain and expansive views of Phoenix.
What runners say about Ridgeline Trail
“The long uphills will make it a great cardio workout and will reward you with some great views of Phoenix and the surrounding valley.”
“The trail itself is well-maintained and clearly marked, making it easy to follow.”
Great up and down hike with amazing views of the valley North and South of the mountain. To hike the entire Ridgeline, I would put the difficulty level at moderate to hard, but if you just do a few peaks and come down the side, I would say easy to moderate...depending on how many peaks.
Great hike to catch a sunset and get those views. There are many trails inter crossing Ridgeline so you can easily go from a planned 2 mile hike, to a 4 or more. Some lose rock, so be careful. Take plenty of water and watch out for those snakes! IG @ hikingthisplanet
nice trail system here in the nations largest city park. Explored the area where the Jesuit priest & three of his Akimel O’otham friends were ambushed and killed by Apaches at 4 cross hill, not too far from the petroglyphs. Tons of trails to get lost on on South mtn for sure.
This is a great workout when you don't have a lot of time. I think the views from the Ridgeline trail are better than those from the busy main lookout at the top of South Mtn. There's no bathroom nearby so that's kind of a bummer.
