Confirmed from Higby Mountain Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Higby Mountain Trail Head

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (126 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 11 mentions

“Be prepared for a rapid ascent right from the start but then a nice hike along the ridge with beautiful views.”

Beautiful views . Marks are clear trail well maintained. Really loved the place

★★★★★ — Anna , Aug 2022

I come to Higby Mountain trail all year around in all four seasons. Never get bored because of the spectacular views. Right from the parking lot, it is ascending for about 10 minutes then descending then up again which makes the whole trail interesting.

★★★★★ — Aggie , Mar 2021

This is my third time coming to this spot I absolutely love hiking this mountain you get such a beautiful view from up top there's a small parking lot right off of route 66 where you can park then you head up it is a little bit Rocky at first and throughout the trail I would recommend wearing good sneakers.

★★★★★ — Joan , Aug 2022

This is a great hike, but being out of shape, it was difficult for me. I’ll probably be back again once my hiking legs are back.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 26 mentions

“It's right before or after guida's (depending on which way you're coming from) and it only takes about 25-30 minutes to get up to a really nice view.”
