Confirmed from High Ridge Scrub Natural Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about High Ridge Scrub Natural Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (220 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

This one is a hidden gem to me. From Boca Raton to Lakeworth, this one is my favorite Natural Area to walk in the nature. We encountered Turtles, rabbits, cicadas… Do not forget to close the entrance gate. Turtles might wander and get hurt on the road.

★★★★★ — Iso , Oct 2022

It's a nice & small natural area! If you just want to walk and have a refreshing ambiance, I recommend going to the place. We're lucky to see a Gopher Turquoise in the area! I had a great experience!

Just off Rt 95 this is another one of the great Scrub Natural Areas to explore. The parking lot has parking for about 6 cars with a handicap parking spot. The entrance gate is designed to keep the gopher tortoise inside and protected. As it’s a wildlife natural area, dogs and bikes are not allowed.

So much fun walking here. Even if you don't feel like it, please please go on the hiking trail. You WILL see multiple gopher tortoises. It's so cool to be able to get so close to them and see them do tortoise things! I didn't know they lived in burrows until I visited.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
