It’s quiet on weekdays. My husband and I eloped at high shoals falls last Wednesday 8/14/24. Had rained in awhile, it was shallow so we were able to get closer but still really pretty for the occasion! we had visited a year ago, and the path down wasn’t that bad. However, it’s pretty eroded in some spots now.
Great waterfall, the locals told us we weren't allowed to climb to the top, but the view from the bottom was still stunning. Would love to return here someday. Beautiful little 0.5mi hike into the waterfall, then a nice fairly spacious area for multiple families to comfortably enjoy the area.
A hidden & unexpected jewel in Paulding County(Dallas). About a 2 minute walk from the open parking area, nestled snuggly in plenty of shade, a few picnic tables for a quiet lunch, a historic cemetery near the entrance, and the perfect spot for reading or some needed alone time.
We arrived during morning hours to an empty parking lot. There is no entry fee. We had the shoals all by ourselves for a while. It's so beautiful. It was relaxing and peaceful with only the sounds of the birds and the waterfall. If you visit and need to sit, you'll need to bring your own chair.
