Confirmed from Highland Canyon Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Lakeside hiking destination, with a paved path circling the water and a playground area.
What runners say about Highland Canyon Trail
“A Beautiful lake, perfect for fishing in the summer, and definitely worth going to!”
Nice and beautiful place. Lots of greenery. Paved path around the lake with some deviating trails. Lake has sand on one side and you can see lot of ducks. There are picnic areas with bbq grills, restrooms and some water taps. Area is very much kid friendly and dog friendly.
Awesome area to take the kids. It's so beautiful. A little pocket of nature and peace in the highlands. My son loves seeing the ducks at the pond. This place is incredible in the summer and serene in the winter. We've come here for multiple family outings. You can ride your car here. Or take the Murdock trail.
10/10. Darling. A trail around the whole lake that breaks out into different shaded trails. So fun to take kiddos with a mini beach, ducks, paved trail, mini docks, fishing, playground… one of the funnest afternoons as a family🙌🏻
A little steep in parts. Doesn't loop so you'll have to boomerang back the way you came unless you are in for a very long walk. Perfect for biking if you didn't drive to get there.
