Confirmed from Hohokam Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Dog-friendly basketball, playground-equipped park with picnic tables, tennis courts and volleyball. Swings and slides also feature.

What runners say about Hohokam Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (107 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🌳 shaded & cool 7 mentions

“It needs a little more shade on the playground and shade for the swings, but we love the nice big grassy area.”

🐕 dog-walking favorite 3 mentions

“Great for kids, a dog park, and good walking trails.”

One of the best little parks in the area Kids play space a court and oasis of grass in the desert. If you need a quiet recharge, you can walk bare foot though the grass and just sit down. Ps I have seen javelins and other desert creatures here a often early morning and early evening so stay frosty people

Wonderful park and running trail in the Sonoran landscape with a soft surface. The trail connects with Sunset Park and Wood Shade trail for a nice 3+ mile option.

I really love this little park. It’s great for kids and has a spot to allow your dog off lease! It’s gated and has water for the dogs, and benches to sit on. It’s got beautiful scenery, green grass, nice sidewalks for jogging!

★★★★★ — Christine , Jan 2025

Lovely walking trails surrounded by different types of cacti that lead to the park. Nice and spread out and a many different structures for the kids to play on. Clean and well taken care of. There is also an off leash dog park!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Hohokam Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
