Confirmed from Honeybee Canyon Loop's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Honeybee Canyon Loop

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (30 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“Clearly marked and clean trails make this an enjoyable hike.”

Beautiful loop with one of the largest saguaros I’ve ever seen! The views of the Catalinas are also unmatched. The hike is short and easy (1.65 miles), and perfect foe little ones. Also dog friendly!

★★★★★ — Emily , Jan 2021

I was concerned that this trail would not be much to waste time on since it is directly behind a neighborhood. To my surprise, once leaving the parking area I was quickly heading into the desert and the neighborhood was a distant thought. You can go in several directions and all are well marked.

Such a fun ride. Slow incline up until the turn around and then mostly downhill the whole way. I'm a newbie w single track and did just fine ( hopped off my bike just a few times). Our more intermediate cyclists loved it just as much.

★★★★★ — Martha , Mar 2023

This is the smoothest singletrack around Tucson. It's great for new riders or riders looking to put in a lot of miles. There are also a number of B-lines through the rocks to keep more experienced riders entertained.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
