The Hoosac Range Trail to Spruce Hill is a lovely hike! The slope is fairly gentle the whole way except for a very short section right below the summit. The woods are beautiful, and there are a series of interesting moss and fern covered schist outcroppings along the way. The views from the summit are outstanding!
Not a difficult hike but you will still feel it. Approximately two good view points at Spruce Hiil and Sunset. Not as SCENIC as some other hiked. Small trail for other hikers going the opposite way. You will have to step aside. Small parking lot.
I really enjoyed this hike. It is relatively level and for long stretches you are in the forest with no real views. As you approach Spruce Hill, however, you catch more and more glimpses of the views to come.
Perfect trail for little kids. My 3 Y/o was able to do the sunset rock loop trail without being carried. Very mild incline and no bugs on our late August trip
