Confirmed from Hot Springs Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

If you want a great hike from here, you can bag old and new Sugarloaf in about 13 miles. The trail is great, as are the views. Search for "hikingguy san juan trail to sugarloaf" for a video and full guide to the hike.

Such a beautiful hike! Its far enough from the city that you feel like you're out in the wild. There are lots of beautiful wildflowers and cute little lizards to see. The mountains are breathtaking. The trail is a little washed out from the rain so some parts you need to be careful with your footing

San Juan is the best trail in SoCal. The Hotsprings trailhead is super well cared of, such beautiful and peaceful place. Kudos to the park Rangers for doing such an awesome job.

What a ride!! Trail is a bit over grown. Fun and chunky. Difficulty rating. Fun and flowy. Awesome ride. Car didn't get broken into so we were all happy.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
