Confirmed from Huntersville Athletic Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Cleanly maintained park featuring a ballfield and athletic fields.
What runners say about Huntersville Athletic Park
“The fields looked like they were in great shape, bathrooms were clean, parking was great.”
Many excellent athletic fields and 3 separate little playgrounds, including a great workout park. I highly recommend this park! There’s a little kids playground on one side of the parking lot. A little bit bigger park on the other side of the parking lot, with slides and some swings.
Great park for toddlers that keep running away. The toddler part has a gate that locks, so you don't have to worry as much. Also the grass is very soft or maybe it's soft turf but they won't get hurt when they fall.
Beautiful park. Great facility for a weekend of baseball. Doesn't hurt when you walk away with first place for the weekend!
Great field, the turf field looked very nice. The dirt fields were also very good and the warm up area for the batting cage was very nice. The bathrooms were clean with a good snack shop as well. Great environment to play at and a very well run field.
Trail conditions & character
“the turf upgrades were a solid makeover, the fields are never locked (a big plus), and the bathrooms are cleaned regularly.”
“The fields looked like they were in great shape, bathrooms were clean, parking was great.”
“-The lights for Field 4 are insufficient.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
