The I&M State Trail Access at Aux Sable is a testament to the beauty of nature and the rich history of the region. A favorite among locals and visitors alike, this well-maintained trail and its surrounding area offer an experience that is as enriching as it is engaging.
A nice roadside stop as well as an access point for the I&M Canal Trail. It has a fairly well-preserved canal house and lock. You can't enter the house, but it's still an interesting piece of local history. There is a short level walk if your interest is the house and lock alone.
10/19/24 Morris, IL Morning Journal Entry We woke up this morning in Cook County, Illinois, where we will be staying for the next five nights. However, I would rather reflect on the discoveries that can come from following an unguided fate.
This was such a nice and quiet trail access. Lots of wildlife and beautiful scenery. We saw a variety of fish, turtles, and ducks!! My kids loved it. Lots beautiful trees and native flowering plants along the way too. The old lock area was really cool and my kids liked the info they had there. Area was very clean.
