Confirmed from Ice Age Trail - West Bend Segment's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Ice Age Trail - West Bend Segment

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (150 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“A beautiful path that will make you feel like an adventurer no matter how experienced you are.”

The Ice Age Trail, which covers a vast amount of Wisconsin, is difficult to describe because it's no one thing. In some stretches it's hilly, rocky and scenic. In others, a meandering riverside path, and still others a skinny little shoulder on a county highway.

★★★★★ — Lynn , Nov 2020

Great parking off Beaver Dam, 20+ cars. Excellent for Ice Age access and mountain biking as well. Short but wicked elevation. Service station available as well, just like Vilas County trail system.

★★★★★ — Bikes , Apr 2022

Best trails in the area. Much more difficult than any Kettle Moraine trail. Enjoy the steep hills, rocks, and the forest view is amazing in fall!

★★★★★ — Paul , Jul 2020

A beautiful path that will make you feel like an adventurer no matter how experienced you are. Long stretches of forest, fields, and swamp make you appreciate nature in the fullest. Park towers give you a breathtaking view, especially at sunrise/sunset.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
