I have been walking the Illahee Preserve for the last five years and have walked there in all four seasons. I went there recently on Saturday afternoon in June. The weather was mild and cloudy with a temperature of 60°.
What a cool place to have the opportunity to explore and appreciate in Kitsap County. There are quite a lengthy network of trails that are well maintained. If you're lucky, you may get the chance to spot some owls. I was there near dusk in a dark area of the woods and I was greeted by three of them. So cool!
I wish we had preserves like this in Illinois! Absolutely incredible trails for a local space. There is signage to help donate and keep this preserve taken care of from being bought out by commercial prospects. The trail is very well maintained. I came on a perfect sunny day.
What a great park. All the trails are underneath the canopy of trees; with just a sprinkle of sun rays peeking through. Most of the trails are flat, which makes for an easy walk. From parking lot to parking lot is less than 2 miles. It wasn’t crowded when I went. I definitely will be back.
