Confirmed from Independence Lake County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Summer spray area, fishing, winter cross-country trails & more at 360-acre park with lake & prairie.
What runners say about Independence Lake County Park
“It is nice, it is clean, they have a splash pad for the littles and a concession stand where food, drinks and boat rentals can be purchased.”
“Despite all of that, it was absolutely beautiful, the hot chocolate was fantastic and the picture station was awesome.”
UPDATE 10-05-25 🍁🧡🍁🧡👍 Autumn is slowly starting! An amazing experience. This lake park is gigantic. Paths for running, walking, strollers and tree/leave viewing. A lot of twists and different paths to choose from. Plenty of parking and there is a playground for children and picnic tables and covered eating as well...
Awesome beach, not too crowded on weekdays. Very clean bathroom facilities. A nearby sandbox is complemented with a big size playground structure ideal for climbing. A section of the playground is dedicated for toddlers. Small paved path for bikes and walkers some paths for hiking.
Nice well kept trails. Cool lookout tower and beautiful views of nature and wildlife.
The short version: I love Indy! Where to start? For me, disc golf. But also: Waterpark, hiking, swimming lake and beach, pavilions, nature, and not far from the freeway! The long version: The disc golf course is one of the better rated in the area.
Trail conditions & character
“The play structure is kind of hidden for a first time visitor, the signage is so poor we had to use Google Maps and satellite view to find the play structure.”
“It's now two 18 hole courses (East and West), replete with a pavilions and fire pits, bathrooms, and a practice hole.”
“Parts are on a boardwalk and cross through marsh and other grassy areas.”
