Confirmed from Interurban Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Multiuse paved trail, for biking, running, and walking.
What runners say about Interurban Trail
“it is well maintained and excellent for walking or biking.”
“Great for walking, running, cycling and pets, all paved.”
“Sometimes you do have to share the road with auto vehicles but most of the time you stay on a quiet, peaceful designated path.”
The Interurban Trail is a wonderful place to go hiking, running, or biking. I've travelled at least 25 miles along it from South Everett all the way down to the Woodland Park Zoo, both biking and on foot, and it's a pleasure to spend time on. It's generally safe and very quiet and well maintained.
This trail becomes harder and harder to follow once you get out of the shoreline area since it was an old train line which got broken into pieces back in the day. But once you know the tricks of this trail it has about 3-4 hills and you can go all the way up to north everett (41st Street, Everett, WA).
This paved pedestrian and biking trail stretches the length of Shoreline, and continues north and south to Everett and Seattle. Through Shoreline, as it runs parallel to Aurora, it's flat, wide, and separated from the heavy traffic.
The Interurban Trail between Seattle and Everett is a long, multi-use path for cyclists and pedestrians. It consists of many segments with great signage along the path for connections. Sometimes you do have to share the road with auto vehicles but most of the time you stay on a quiet, peaceful designated path.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
