Confirmed from Jaco Pastorius Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Jaco Pastorius Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (146 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“Park is On Leash dog friendly & clean.”

🐕 dog-walking favorite 4 mentions

“You will also find many dogs walking in the morning and in the evening.”

I am going to give this park high marks for a few reasons. First, they maintain this park very well. There is a circular quarter mile trail that you can. The park has some great landscaping and grassy areas where you can sit down and enjoy a nice day. I find the murals on the park building very well done.

★★★★★ — Perks , Jan 2021

Nice walking trail in the middle of Oakland Park. 2 larger than life beautiful portraits and plaque honoring Jaco Pastorius, a native son of SE Florida. Park is On Leash dog friendly & clean. Entrance has a water feature which lights up at night

★★★★★ — Sandy , Jan 2025

Oakland Park boasts a vibrant artistic spirit, with no fewer than 13 theater companies within a 5 mile radius. Several of these companies have garnered national recognition for their innovative productions and talented performers.

Fun spot, well manicured, bring a ball, a frisbee, or just enjoy a walk. The fountain is fun to watch, and check out the urban garden just north.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
