Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Great hike! Really enjoyed this gem. It was green and lovely with a little water still in a few sections of riverbed. It was more climbing than I'd expected (1800 ft in about 3.5 miles) but the view over the entire SB basin & out to the Channel Islands, was spectacular!

This trail will take you to Inspiration Point. Loved the mildly challenging uphill route to get to inspiration point. I got there at 10:45am and was afraid there might be too much sun (sunny day in January). However, most of the trail (I'd say 70 to 80%) was shaded and it was truly enjoyable.

I used to love this trail very much, My wife and son were there three times in a row in the month August, 2020, every weekend. Our first time ever was the second Saturday of August. Hiking in Los Padres National Park was an alternative to the high temperatures in the Trails we usually do in the Valley.

★★★★☆ — Martin , Sep 2020

This hike is definitely a challenge but worthy. The weather was pleasant. This hike was a 7.73-mile hike round trip but we did the round trip in less than 4 hours. We didn't get to see the promised view but we definitely saw cloud 9😛!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
