Confirmed from John F. Kennedy Memorial Forest's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about John F. Kennedy Memorial Forest

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (51 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“I love Forest Park it is like being out in the country it is clean safe gorgeous I walk my dog daily it is invigorating and refreshing”

Great place to hike and meditate. Tranquility and Peace are abundant in this hidden gem in the heart of our urban forest.

★★★★★ — Jarrod , Jan 2022

About as close to a forest oasis you are going to get within city limits. We were here in the winter so the pictures are not doing it justice. Some parts are deep enough in the woods where you don't see cars or building anymore. Combination of concrete, gravel, and dirt paths throughout.

★★★★★ — Matt , Jan 2019

Hidden gem in Forest Park. Trails are rarely crowded, and the ecological restoration has produced wonderful results. The wooded areas are full of native wildflowers in spring, and the savanna areas are full of native flowers in summer. Urban oasis of wildlife.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
