Confirmed from John Rudy County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Familiar dog park with separate areas for big & little dogs, plus a playground, trails & a creek.
What runners say about John Rudy County Park
“The other thing that really bothered me is the fact that some slob pet owners don't bother to clean up their dog poop.”
This park is a hidden treasure. Has wonderful trails to walk/run. It's massive, has at least that I know of, 2 completely different entrances. I found that out by going to the Holiday Light Show. It was very dark & not a soul in sight.
I have been going to this park for years now, and has always been amazing. It is an amazing place for hikes, and has several sports fields, and the dog park is great.
We love this park!!! We live like 30 minutes away and choose to come here over all other parks. It's just great. HUGE. Plenty of space if you want to walk around in the off-leash area with your furbaby. Super clean, the rangers drive by fairly often, most visitors police themselves and the dogs quite well. Love it.
For a little over a mile walk around the paved trail, you get two nice (for parks) bathroom stops, barked at by the puppies at the puppy park, chattered at by squirrels, and can visit people playing at the playground, horseshoe pits, soccer fields, cooking at the pavilions, and so much more.
Trail conditions & character
“BMX practices and a dog park and plenty of nature popping in and out to capturing your attention as you walk through this park.”
“There are benches, baseball fields and bathrooms, as well as multiple parking lots and two driving entrances.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
